Heart for Homes & People
Colleen’s story is rooted in more than just real estate—it’s built on faith, family, and a deep love for helping others. Whether she’s walking buyers through the biggest purchase of their lives, serving at her church, or spending time with her grandkids, Colleen brings warmth and genuine care into everything she does.
Step Into Real Estate
Thirteen years ago, Colleen and her husband John moved to Sherman. When the financial office she worked at closed its doors, she saw it as the right time to step into something that had always interested her: real estate.
“I used to read the real estate section in the Sunday paper as a kid. I’ve always loved imagining the lives inside those homes.”
That childhood fascination turned into a fulfilling career helping others find a place to call home.
Her Role Today
Today, Colleen is a licensed Realtor® and also the transaction coordinator for Robin Phillips at Phillips Group. The team is known for their client-focused approach, their availability, and their thoughtful use of home staging when it can make a difference in a sale.
With three agents on the team, there’s always someone ready to jump in and help—a strength that sets them apart.
Colleen and her husband John, who is the lead pastor at Joshua’s Crossing in Denison, have been married 30 years. They have four children.
Their oldest son, Trey, leads the student ministry at Joshua’s Crossing alongside his wife, Sarah. Together, they’re busy raising two lively little boys. Their second son, Michael, and his wife, Ashton, live in Sherman and recently welcomed their first baby into the family. Their daughter, Marie, and her husband, Dustin, also call Sherman home and proudly claim the family’s first “fur grandbaby,” a sweet pup named Nemo. Their youngest, Steven, is hard at work earning his degree in computer engineering!
“When your children become adults and your friends, it’s truly the best in the world!”
Colleen is deeply connected to her community. She’s actively involved in her church, volunteers at Master Key Food Pantry, and helps pack shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.
Helping people—whether through ministry, outreach, or real estate—is at the heart of everything she does.
The Heart of Real Estate
Some parts of the job are tough, like when a lender tells a hopeful buyer they don’t qualify yet. But Colleen never gives up—she helps people make a plan, even if it takes time to get there.
Her favorite moments are the emotional ones.
“When I take a buyer into a home and their eyes fill with tears because that’s the house that they want to bring their baby home to or teach their child to ride their bike or have family dinners at, there’s nothing better.”
She’s proud to be part of Paragon Realtors—a brokerage known for doing business the right way.
“One word—integrity! Our office is full of realtors that have great integrity. And our standard of learning is exemplified through each transaction.”
Colleen loves that Sherman offers both wide open spaces and the convenience of being close to everything.
“When we moved to Sherman, I told my husband that I am always amazed at how you can be standing in the middle of a pasture and yet still be 10 minutes from Walmart.”
Her favorite local spot is Jafar’s Mediterranean Grill in Van Alstyne: “It’s a fabulous place!”
And when it comes to design, she’s still a fan of what’s familiar.
“I live in a ranch-style home that was built in the 60s, and there’s nothing better than the storage and the large bedrooms!”
